- Disability has social causes which should not be confused with personal impairment or illness.
- Service needs are inter-related and the success of provision for one need, depends on understanding all needs as a whole.
- The basic services and facilities defined by disabled people are for:-
- Comprehensive information
- Advocacy
- Peer support
- Personal support
- Technical aids
- Appropriate Housing
- Access to goods and services
- Full provision of the above basic needs then enables equality of opportunity for disabled individuals to take part in all normal social activities.
